Hello, I'm New

Hello everyone, it's nice to find a forum from my old area, I lived in Welland for 23 years and moved to the Ottawa area 8 years ago, but i frequently come to Welland on family vacations and visits and now that I dive I want to see more of the bottom of the canal and rivers. My problem is i don't know anyone else who dives, so when i come down i would like to try and find a dive buddy so I'm hoping someone on here can help!!

Welcome to the board Steve. You don't know how lucky you are....living in Ottawa.....so close to Morrisons Quarry in Quebec....

Anyways...back to Niagara! There is always something to see in the canal. By the end of this summer the way that things are moving along...there will be more to see. There are a few people on this board from the Ottawa area and I am sure have some great suggestions for some spots up that way (some within a couple hours...).

Hello Steve! I'm surprised you haven't met up with any divers from the Ottawa area. There are tons! We are sometimes up at Morrison's Quarry, the odd weeknight, to work on skills.

Im sorry I think I misspoke or typed whatever I did... I know lots of people around this area to dive with but when I come to the Niagara area I don't know anyone down there who dives. And yes being a new diver I am looking so forward to some of the spots in the Ottawa Brockville area. I find it unbelievable how many shipwrecks there are out there.

Thanx Chris, I usually come down about 3 times a year, and now after I'm done jumping off the bridges I will go dive, there just isn't any fun bridges up where i live!!! That is one thing I love about Welland...good jumping areas!!

I'm really looking forward to diving with some of you.

I've been reading quite a bit on it. I first read about the scuba park in Diver Magazine, they showed an ariel photo of the whole area from bridge to bridge and it's pretty neat seeing the place you grew up and the water where you spent so many hours swimming and jumping in a magazine like that. Yeh I'm definitly looking forward to doing a bunch of diving down there and getting to meet some good peeps. I'm quickly learning that of all the different hobbies I have and all the people I deal with that divers are some pretty good and honest people. It has not taken me long to start figuring this out.
