American Eels

One of our unique endangers species has been showing a fall die off last year and sadly again this year. Last year we collected some dead eels for the St. Lawrence Environmental Institute in Cornwall, where their Project Lead Researcher for eels sent them away. The results were that they were all wild eels and ranged in age of 7 years to average 14/15 years old. They were all juveniles or yellow eels (due to their yellow belly). This year we have reached out to divers in the area through Charter operators and friends to help collect data such as sightings and where live eels are. They still request collecting dead eels (preference given to almost dead or freshly dead for toxicology testing).

Attached is the Diver Information Sheet.
