Hey All,

Had a good day today at the Welland Scuba Park to bring in the New Year.

Had a lot of people out. Dan's Dive Shop, Adventure Scuba and NDA all seemed to have a planned event at the park. It was a huge turn out and a great day.

Dan's Dive Shop brought a BBQ and Hot Dogs which many enjoyed.

Unfortunatly the Park had frozen over so it was no longer an open water dive. Many people just hung out and chatted.

A few people (Overhead Certified) still went in for a dive. Visibility was a little low by the docks but once you get down to about 25' the vis increased to about 15'. Water temp is about 34F

All in all a great day and good to see so many people out.

I saw a lot of camera's there so I'm hoping those people will come on and link photos to this thread.

I hope to see everyone out this coming Sunday :)

Serge.

Great day. Glad the viz is getting better.

I still can't get over how far the platform jug was dragged by the ice. Had to be over 300 ft. Guess that gives us something to do Sunday.

It was about -13 in the morning. Water was 34F. Out of all the people that showed up I think there was only 10 of us that went in.

It was iced over though so in general only overhead certified thought about diving.

There was no wind at all so even though it was cold it wasn't that bad with zero wind chill.

We had some nasty wind chill ... -27. The quarry was warmer though, at 40. It just really sucked getting out...lol... My drysuit zipper even froze up. :o

It was a perfect day for dving there was no wind at all. Usually at the boat ramps there is a brisk wind. Earlier in the week the canal had white caps on it...

So it appears everything is pretty much iced over, dang running out of places to dive...this really sucks...

Rob it just means you have to get overhead trained :D

With the line work we've done at the scuba park and with overhead training it's a great place to dive all winter long!

Ya the wind chill is what gets you for sure. Sounds like you were the smart ones in your group. No wind under water :p

I plan to, I am taking the Ice Diver course this Jan/Feb. I can't wait I hate seeing my gear sitting here all dry.
