All of the new stuff on the GUE site is good reading..I'm very pleased with the additions...I was thinking of not renewing my membership this year..$100 was pretty steep for 4 magazines and a t-shirt..Now that I'm getting more bang for my buck..I'll have to renew

I still haven't renewed. Last year was a waste. I may have to re-think my position this year if the new material is as good as people are saying.

It's better value than it used to be for sure. I've just read through the SOP and the valve stuff. It's a good start - certainly nice to have it all in one place as a reference. I'm still not sure that the silver membership is worth $125 though!

Holy crap..they raised the rate of a silver membership to $125?!?!
So who thinks all of this is in rebuttal to the new UTD site?
I do...............

Yeah, it's $125 now! I could buy a box of pencils at Zero-Gravity for that.

As an aside, I've been reading the gavin scooters list - George has quite a few posts where he rips into AG for his "valve fetish", which seems to be exactly what is in Dan's "Valve Failure Identification and Resolution" pamphlet. It's almost, but not quite, as entertaining as techdiver. Which brings me to the Quest list. It seems to be pretty much dead now, which is too bad.

ROFL!!!

Perhaps we should revive it then? :p

With the amount of stuff we buy from that site, I don't mind the rebate...lol.. I think it evens out in the end! :D

Well....there is that and there is also the electronic option for those that want to complain about price. I see it as a donation to an organization that is doing a lot of good and building a lot of awareness globally. I have wasted more on people and have gotten nothing out of it that benefits me in the end, so I don't mind showing my support, taking the discount, and feeling good about helping out at the end of the day. I did electronic up until now, and I was thinking of renewing under the silver membership anyways. I am happy to see a benefit section and although I haven't had time to catch up on the reading of it yet this week, I plan on doing that this weekend since I have strict orders to not "lift" anything heavy.

This is my 4th year as a silver member...When it runs out, I will renew once again with a silver membership. Having spent more then $500 over the years on these memberships, I think I have done my fair share...It was already $125 for an international silver membership, so I'm assuming they're $150 now.
If your so big on donating to the cause, why do you only have an electronic membership?

I have a silver membership (and I've been a member since 2001). I will renew for the reasons you quoted Jen. I just like to complain!

It's still $125... I just got the silver a couple of days ago. Besides donating towards a group that does alot for our community, the benefits are pretty good now. You get access to two sets of course materials, plus discounts in GUE facilities and online store, and more... seriously.. have a look.. It's worth the click! :p

Take it easy ;). I joined as electronic because I didn't want the paper version of the magazine. I was going to be renewing as silver this year anyways...mainly because I now want the hard copy magazine. The members that get the hard copy seem to get it first, and the electronic takes longer to go online. I was waiting for my renewal date to come up. It has, so I am now a silver member. I now like the added features for silver over electronic. They also raised the electronic price.

Wasn't referring to just silver memberships as donating...the electronic does too. Donation is donation...no matter what form.. What you prefer to get out of it is up to the one donating. They offer more benefits...price goes up to continue to offer these added benefits.

I think it is worth the investment. My sense is positive change is coming to support and retain members. Dan's new quarterly Quest Digest is a step in the right direction.
On another note, if we contribute with articles like the recent Great White North or "Your Turn to Speak" you get more out of the membership.
